Residential Care FAQ
Accreditation
The Commonwealth Government, who fund aged care services, have developed the Accreditation process which is managed by an independent agency, The Aged Care Standards and Accreditation Agency. This Agency was established in 1966 and reviews all aged care facilites and measures quality in these facilities by application of 44 Outcome Standards which measures various areas of service and operation.
All ACH Group sites have been Accredited by the Agency.
The results of Accreditation Services are published by the Aged Care Standards Agency and are available for inspection by accessing their web page on http://www.accreditation.org.au/
Lifestyle
ACH Group residential care sites focus on ensuring that the lifestyle or previous life history of a resident continues once they enter our residential facilities. Each site employs a Lifestyle Coordinator, who will assist new residents in establishing themselves in a residential facility.
The Lifestyle Coordinator will link the resident with services, facilities and activities that occur both within the residential facility and within the surrounding community.
Pets
Residents of ACH Group residential services are encouraged to bring their pets with them when they enter a service. There is only one proviso in that the resident must be able to care for their pet adequately and the pet can cope with the transition to the new environment. Many residents in ACH Group have their dogs, cats or other pets with them and this has been of great benefit for them.
Before any pets can be moved into an ACH Group Aged Care Facility, the Manager of the facility must firstly assess the conditions required.
Furnishing
ACH Group firmly believe that an older person should bring with them, to their new accommodation, as much of their personal belongings as they can. This includes furniture, cabinets, bookshelves, display items etc. The rooms have been built such that some can accommodate quite a high degree of personal possessions, and this is encouraged to assist the resident in the transition from home to residential services.
Married Couples
All ACH Group sites have recently upgraded to enable the service to meet the needs of married couples. In some cases we can offer adjoining rooms, double rooms, or in the case of Colton Court, a single apartment for married couple care. ACH Group strive to provide services for married couples and enquiries from married couples for residential care, where either both or one of the partners requires aged care services, are welcomed.
