About Sing for Joy
Sing for Joy is a community project that encourages people to sing, to have fun, learn and perform to local audiences.
Supported by the ACH Group Foundation, the Sing for Joy Choirs promote the benefits of participation in the arts by older people and celebrate the contribution that older people and people with dementia can make to the cultural life of South Australia.
When people sing together it’s fun, it lifts the spirit and stimulates the mind and body.
These choirs provide a vehicle for people to come together irrespective of ability, to learn, to enjoy music and singing and to feel the benefits of being included in their community.
Experience to date demonstrates that participants gain confidence through singing. Some have volunteered for solo and small group roles. Those with no previous experience of choir are being introduced to choir routines and learning to sing in parts and harmony.
Comments from family members and participants of the Sing for Joy Choirs:

“Singing lifts your spirits.”
“It’s given me back my voice. It’s made such a difference to my life.”
