A gathering of people in their 70s, 80s and 90s were photographed on the shores of Henley Beach on January 30.
'Sea of Knowledge' featured fifteen older people standing in the sea at dawn, portraying many diverse careers which included a small choir, musicians, a life guard, defence force member, teacher and blackboard plus a full size piano complete with a formally suited player.
Renowned artist Andrew Baines who captured the scene said: “My dad played soccer in the United Kingdom and South Australia, now he is in his late seventies and I hope all his knowledge is utilised by local clubs and schools and not gone to waste.”
“This photoshoot is like painting through the ages; it’s a way of recording history focusing on fashion, attire, work and attitudes. You can create the future by studying the past.
Andrew will very generously donate one of the images from the photoshoot to ACH Group's Foundation for Older Australians and it will be auctioned to raise funds to support future projects.
